1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by a browser when a website is visited. Similar browser storage can remember preferences without sending that information to the website owner.
2. Consent first
Google Analytics does not load and analytics cookies are not placed unless you actively choose Accept analytics. Rejecting analytics does not affect access to any page or feature.
You can change your choice at any time through , which is also available in the footer of every page.
3. Storage used by this website
| Name | Type and provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
jfc_cookie_consent_v1 | Necessary browser local storage; juliafclifford.com | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected Google Analytics so the website can respect your choice on later pages and visits. | Until you change the choice or clear the site’s browser storage |

4. Google Analytics information
When you accept analytics, Google Analytics may measure page views, sessions, approximate location, traffic source, device and browser information, and general interactions with the website. The information is used to understand which pages are useful and to improve the website.
The implementation uses Google’s basic consent approach: the Google tag is completely blocked before consent. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied. Google Signals and personalised advertising signals are disabled.
5. How to withdraw consent
Open , switch off Google Analytics and save. The website will update the consent state, remove accessible Google Analytics cookies and reload the page if necessary to stop the previously loaded analytics tag.
You may also delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Doing so may cause the consent banner to appear again.
6. Third-party websites
Links to Substack, retailers, social networks and other external websites do not place their cookies merely because a link appears here. Their own cookies and privacy practices apply after you visit them. Some externally hosted images or fonts may be retrieved when a page loads; those providers may receive standard technical request information, but they are not used by this website for behavioural advertising.
